Some blogs, especially the ones established by corporates, are more "website" than "blog". An interesting example of a hybrid news site / section / blog is the Sydney Morning Herald's 'Margo Kingston's web diary'. My own media business has both a website and a blog, as I believe there is a strong cross-over audience, and it keeps it personal, in this world where people (and readers) can be thought of "just a number". Bottom line - blogs are good for business, and they enjoy a very healthy readership. I know some people who read them more than broadsheets! I would suggest that even more people are reading blogs than the figure provided.
