The Web site for The Journal Times, a 30,000 circulation daily in Racine, WI, has had more than 2,000 blog comments since Thursday in reaction to a local vigilante who shot car thieves.
“Our local ABC station came to the newsroom to do a story on it,” says The Journal Times’ Rob Golub in an e-mail to CyberJournalist.net. “We don’t require registration. We open our blogs up to the people and, for the most part, we step back. Our talented print journalists have fully embraced the Internet as part of their jobs — they’ve given us a great multimedia presentation.”
See this story, for example, which has about 1,000 comments at the end of it.
