American Public Media’s Budget Hero game

The Center for Innovation in Journalism at American Public Media has launched a great new game, Budget Hero, which lets people decide how taxpayer dollars should be spent and focuses on the major issues in the 2008 election – like the war in Iraq, the Bush tax cuts, expanding health care, and stimulating the economy.

Here’s what’s particularly cool about this game: it becomes more interesting as more people play, since you can compare your budget with others of different ages, incomes, states, gender and political parties.

Once you submit your budget, be sure to click on the “Compare with Others” button and then provide your demographic info, which is required to compare.

The game is also a widget, so you can embed it on your website.
