BBC News has won the Royal Television Society (RTS) multimedia award for its coverage of last year’s floods, and Sky News has won the innovation award for its Sky Dot News program.
About the Sky Dot News program, which can be seen online and on air, the judges said:
“The winning entry aims to integrate the web and tv audiences and was judged to be innovative because it lets the public rather than the news editor set the Agenda.”
And about the BBC’s flood coverage, the judges’ said:
“The winner aggressively pushed at every new, available technology, using national regions and local news resources and sorting through masses of User Generated Content. It was BBC News at its most brilliant best.”
