Update: After reports Tuesday that Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of the News Corporation, says he expects to make access to The Wall Street Journal’s Web site free, a top Dow Jones executive told Editor and Publisher the comments were premature.

cbsnews.com, washingtonpost.com partner
cbsnews.com and washingtonpost.com have partnered for the 2008 election campaign. The two sites will share political content throughout the duration of the 2008 Presidential campaign. washingtonpost.com will feature video coverage from CBS News correspondents, producers and off-air reporters while news, analysis and commentary from the Washington Post's political reporters and columnists will appear on CBSNews.com. The partnership will also provide readers the opportunity to engage with each news organization's reporters and correspondents, who will jointly participate in live chats and other online activities.

Tips on doing multimedia online from washingtonpost.com
Our main effort is to provide story-telling that is driven by the subject's natural action, and a lot of the narrative structure comes from capturing real moments unfolding before the camera. Narration/titling may be used to impart information but because the video will often be seen in combination with text stories as a single experience, a lot of the weight of presenting "facts" may be borne by accompanying text, freeing the video to focus on character exposition and contextual expression of the emotional truth of the story.
