Google is reportedly developing a reading app for tablet devices that will compete with popular apps such as Flipboard, Pulse, Zite, AOL’s Editions and Yahoo’s Livestand. The app is reportedly called “Propellor” and being developed for both Android and the iPad.
Robert Scoble, who fittingly first reported the news in a Google+ post, says, “My source says that the versions he’s seen so far are mind-blowing good.”
Google has experimented in the past with more visual, magazine-like browsing experiences with Google Fast Flip, which it recently killed.
Kara Swisher says, “All these apps are part of the drastically changing habits of media consumers, helping them better navigate numerous social and media feeds — such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as news sites and more — using handsome interfaces and touch technologies.”
