latimes.com: Mortal Wounds

As part of a series on homicide called Mortal Wounds, The Los Angeles Times analyzed more than 6,000 homicide cases over 15 years to find a start disparity in where killers run free. Unpunished killers, the series found, is pervasive in Central and South Los Angeles. The Times built an impressive interactive map in Flash showing the nearly 5,000 homicide cases that remain unsolved, pinpointed by location.

The Times also posted a database where users can search crime by school name or zip code.

Well done.

I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT THA IS IS VERY INTERESTED Iam a college student who is interested in majoring in journalism. A tragical event occured in my life on 1/21/04. My boyfriend was brutaly murdered, and the investigator on his case has not done anything to solve the case. I will really like to publish this because there is people who are going through the exact situation. Innocent people are being murderd everyday in that horrofying neighborhood. No one seems to trust the police since they are not doing anything to stop the violence in my city.
