Gotham Gazette's Community Gazettes
The Community Gazettes are a pioneering effort at creating an online community for people who care about their own neighborhoods. Think of them as an E-bay for Astoria, or a Craigslist for Canarsie, except instead of consumer products or job ads, we traffic in issues, and look to solve problems.
Each Community Gazette (one for each of the city's 51 council districts) contains basic information on the district's demographics, a listing of elected officials, community boards, and public services such as schools, parks, and police precincts. All the Gazettes feature a calendar of events, discuss major issues in the neighborhood and provide a chance for officials and ordinary citizens to speak out on key community concerns. The Gazettes offer one-stop shopping for news, views and events concerning your neighborhood.
