    Dear Sirs,

Thank you for your site and information on Tsunami. Blessed those who have perished in this desaster.

I have a technical question. It has been reported that Tsunami’s can reach a speed of between 500 to 800km/hour. If we look for exemple at the speed of the waves coming on to the shore of most beaches like in thailand, the speed of the wave as we can see is not of the above mentionned speed. Please can you explain how and in what circumstance such speed can be obtained. Thank you in advance for your answer.

    With kindest regards
    Daniel Goy
