NewAssignment.Net has launched a temporary site, including a blog offering 9 ways citizen journalists can cover Tuesday’s election.

This is a temporary site during our “test” phase. You won’t find us doing open source reporting projects with teams of volunteers quite yet. A new site (with the capacity to handle that kind of participation) is being built and will launch with the hiring of our first editor in the first quarter of 2007.

During the test phase we’ll be gathering knowledge and testing assumptions. The NewAssignment.Net blog, edited by David Cohn, will be tracking developments in open source journalism, covering related innovations on the Web, interviewing people who have wisdom to lend, and previewing some of what’s to come in 2007.
