Mike Wendland, converged journalist
Mike Wendland is one journalist who uses every medium to his advantage. He writes a technology column in the Detroit Free-Press, works as a technology reporter for NBC-TV -- and now he's experimenting with convergence by shooting and posting video on his Web site to supplement his newspaper columns. Here's his first attempt, a video report about how wireless technology makes a furniture chain more efficient. "Over the next couple of weeks, I hope to be able to do this with many of the stories I report," he says in his Weblog, yet another way he reaches out to his audience. "...I shot the story on a Canon XL-1 DV Camcorder, edited it with Apple's Final Cut Pro, on my G4 Power Mac, compressed it down to Web video using QuickTime and sent it to my Web server via the Internet just as I e-mailed my column."May 15, 2003 | E-MAIL | SAVE | PRINT | PERMALINK | DISCUSS(1)

Read your Picture This in the Free Press on Sunday and have enjoyed your other "high-tech" articles. Can you suggest a good digital camera with at least 4-5 megapixels and a decent zoom for around $300? Thanks for your help. Happy Holidays
