Chronicle, KPIX, KCBS partner

The San Fransisco Chronicle has partnered with KPIX TV (Channel 5), radio station KCBS and Univision, the country's largest Spanish language television network, to share newsroom resources, cross-promote their content and even collaborate on some advertising sales. The Chronicle had a partnership with KTVU TV (Channel 2), but that deal lapsed on Monday; KPIX had a partnership with the San Jose Mercury News, but the deal ended more than a year ago.

Under the new arrangement, broadcast and print reporters will work together on investigative projects and feature stories, said Phil Bronstein, editor of The Chronicle. KPIX has already built a small broadcast booth in the Chronicle newsroom. "Initially we will be sharing ideas, sharing information, and putting Chronicle reporters with special expertise on our air," Rosenheim said.
