The Internet lagged far behind television and newspapers as a primary source of news about Operation Iraqi Freedom, writes Barb Palser in the American Journalism Review. But the conflict witnessed a number of milestones for Web journalism. "The top online news sites looked like strong and vital partners in journalism, with exclusive news, creative formats, a vast (otherwise unreachable) audience and real dotcom reporters rubbing elbows with their fellows in the field," she says.
