House votes to reverse media ownership rules

The House has approved a bill that would block some of the recent Federal Communications Commission media ownership rule changes. If the bill is signed, the FCC's new rule allowing a single media company to own television stations that reach 45 percent of the U.S. would revert to the old 35 percent rule. The Senate's Commerce Committee has already passed a bill to roll back the cap, but GOP leaders think its unlikely a bill that President Bush (who favors the FCC changes) might veto will pass GOP-controlled Congress.
