NBA to broadcast video of game online
The NBA will be streaming live on its Web site the local television feed of the Oct. 19 game between LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN.com reports. The league hopes that James, the No. 1 overall draft pick, will attract new subscribers to NBA Inside Ticket, the league's subscription service that allows fans to listen to audio Webcasts of every regular season game. In order to view the Webcast, fans will have to sign up for the league's subscription service. The league is expecting that the Webcast will be watched in part by more than 120,000 people, according to Brenda Spoonemore, senior vice president of NBA Entertainment. That would surpass the previous NBA record for the streaming of a live game, which was for the Mavericks-Kings game in April 2001. Although the league's subscription service allows fans to listen to audio Webcasts of every game, Spoonemore said the league has no plans to offer live video Webcasts of regular-season games.Oct 09, 2003 | E-MAIL | SAVE | PRINT
