American Prospect hires blogger
In addition to Elizabeth Spiers' recent hiring by New York Magazine (reported here earlier this week), Harvard graduate Matthew Yglesias got a job at The American Prospect, a political magazine based in Washington, largely because of his Weblog, The Chicago Tribune reports. "The fact that he had a well-known blog definitely influenced our decision to hire him," American Prospect senior editor Garance Franke-Ruta said. The blog started by Yglesias, who now is helping out with a new blog for the magazine, helped him "stand out in a very large field" of applicants, Franke-Ruta told the Tribune.Odd, though, that the Tribune wrote an article praising the new importance of blogs but didn't link to Yglesias' blog or even publish the URL. Thanks to Google, though, we found his blog at matthewyglesias.com and the Prospect's new Weblog at prospect.org/weblog/.
