washingtonpost.com redesigns
washingtonpost.com has launched a minor redesign. Sports and opinion are more highly featured on the homepage. The left menu on the homepage has been reorganized, into easier-to-understand categories. The horizontal navigation has been expanded and placed on the top and bottom of pages, and the left navigation has been removed from article pages (following something NYTimes.com did a while back). The site also improved the Entertainment Guide and created a new Arts and Leisure section that brings all of The Post's national and local cultural reporting into one location.
The site is also putting greater emphasis on interactivity. "We've put interactive features and multimedia front and center," says Publisher Chris Schroeder in a note on the site. "You'll now find easy access to our live discussions, photo galleries, videos and virtual visits for popular attractions, venues and events."
"Nearly all of the changes are the result of what we've learned from readers - through listening to feedback, conducting research on how our site is used, and soliciting comments from groups of readers," he says.
