Don't forget about audio
When it comes to posting multimedia of breaking news events, most sites these days are focusing on video, as the U.S. broadband population continues to increase. But for newspaper sites with limited multimedia resources, audio can be a great way to easily get multimedia online fast.
While competitors posted video on their home pages, USA Today was one of the few major sites to package audio links on their home page with their story on Kerry's victory in Iowa Monday night. Dean's response (click to hear the audio clip USA Today posted) was something that text couldn't fully capture.
