New Web site election software

A new software tool is being offered that could help make it easier for news sites to offer more interactive and up-to-the-minute election news, E&P reports. Mediaspan's Harris & Baseview division is offering an Elections module that allows candidates to upload their information and photos using unique log-ins. They can fill out an editorial board's questionnaire online, for example.Internet readers are prompted to provide a ZIP code and are then presented with online ballot information that matches the ballots they'll see in the booths. Each ballot item can feature editorial coverage links to the newspaper's or others' sites, and editors can approve each candidate's answers and submissions. The information, branding and ad revenues remain the news site's, while Baseview & Harris handles all hardware and software.
