Citizen covers school board election
Covering a local school board election in Madison, Wisconsin, Jim Zellmer posted audio or video interviews with most of the candidates, links to campaign finance documents and a candidate's blog. An impressive collection of material, though no general overview. Dan Gillmor points out that he couldn't find anything comparable on the local newspaper site. And Tim Porter says, "Imagine what a newspaper could do with many reporters and many keyboards if only it could break free of conventions dictating what it should do."
Newspapers that ignore very local stories like this had better watch out -- the Web makes anyone a competitor.
