Dan Gillmor posts book draft: 'I have 1,000 copy editors'

As promised, tech columnist Dan Gillmor has posted the draft of the introduction and first chapter of his book on "Making the News."

He asks readers for their immediate feedback on:
• What's missing -- that is, a topic or perfect anecdote that absolutely has to be included.
• More important, what's wrong. If there's a factual error I want to fix it before the book is published.

At MediaMorphosis, Dan Gillmor said he is already hearing from people in response to the book chapters he posted. "I've already gotten two corrections and some good comments--I have 1,000 copy editors and some really good thoughts on where I am going with this project."

This certainly puts a whole new spin on the old journalists' tradition of never showing sources articles before they go into print.
