Multimedia museum tours

The New York Times produced a great multimedia package to go with Herbert Muschamp's architecture review about the Brooklyn Museum's newly renovated entrance pavilion that opened this past weekend. The package included an audio slideshow narrated by the director of the museum and panoramic photos of the inside and outside of the museum that reader can interact with. It's a nice combination of all the best things that the Times has to offer -- stills, audio, video and panoramic photos. Next best thing to being there.

Museum exhibits and openings are perfect for this type of presentation -- the stories are very visual and the publications get lots of lead time.

Two other examples from CyberJournalist.net's archives:

Washington Post art critic Blake Gopnik's video tour of "Gyroscope"

A narrated tour of the "Matisse Picasso" exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art.
