Wonkette adds "Real Reporting" icon
A day after saying Wonkette should be held to the same standard of accuracy as "The Daily Show" or "Saturday Night Live," writer Ana Marie Cox added a "Real Reporting" icon:
"It has been brought to our attention that some people (not you) have trouble distinguishing between Wonkette posts that are based in first-hand, fact-like knowledge (party reports, sightings) and posts in that contain, as someone once said, 'things I make up,'" she wrote Monday. "... As a service to our irony-impaired readers, entries based on our actually leaving the house and/or speaking to someone "on the record" (we're looking that up) will be denoted with the following symbol:

Any Wonkette readers having a good laugh now will appreciate this:
"The 'real reporting' tag started out as a joke, though I may yet make it a real 'service to irony-impaired readers,'" she told washingtonpost.com in a live chat today. "...I just wish there were a way to make it invisible to those who don't need it, like closed captioning or something."
