Reader predictions sweepstakes
The New York Times is letting readers test their theater knowledge and predict who will go home with a Tony on June 6th. But rather than just being a live vote, The Times has turned it into a sweepstakes: Times readers can win a five-night, theater lover's vacation for two to London, including tickets to two new West End shows.
The Times did a similar sweepstakes for the Academy Awards this past February and more than 45,000 readers entered that one.
These Reader Predictions sweepstakes, along with The Times' "Rate and Review" feature and forums, enables readers to become more involved in the content and in turn allows the site to provide more user-generated content.
Other features available in the Tony Awards section include:
• A multimedia feature with audio from Times culture reporter Jesse
McKinley, who shares his thoughts on this year's nominees.
• Photo galleries of the nominated productions and their performers
• Audio clips of songs from nominated musicals
• Rate and Review, which allows NYTimes.com readers to rate the
Tony-nominated productions, as well as dozens of Broadway, Off Broadway and
Off Off Broadway shows currently in production.
• The Theater Forum, which allows theatergoers to share their thoughts about Tony Awards-related questions.
