MSNBC.com launches Newsbot
Microsoft and MSNBC.com launched a beta test today of a new online news aggregation service, "MSNBC Newsbot," that draw news headlines from more than 4,800 other sites, in a manner similar to Google News. Newsbot uses cookies to add customization features: By measuring which stories users click to read, the site builds a "most popular" list for each section of news; on the full coverage pages for each story, Newsbot also lists stories that "people who read this story also read." we can reduce the time it takes you to find other interesting stories; and Newsbot also tracks the history of stories a user has read and uses that to recommend new stories readers might be interested in.
Moreover Technologies and The Associated Press are partners with Microsoft on the Newsbot beta test, the press release says. The product is similar to the MSN Newsbots that exist in 16 different international markets, but this is the first U.S. version.
