Atlanta Journal-Constitution adds video to Web reporters' arsenal

Atlanta Journal-Constitution has added four high-end consumer-grade camcorders to its Web unit so reporters can shoot exclusive footage for the paper's Web site. That's impressive commitment, especially considering ajc.com already runs local news reports from WSB (co-owned by Cox Communications). Check out the site's video player. "This is an effort to provide video content that wouldn't make the evening news," AJC.com editorial director Hyde Post says. "Things like interviews with people lining up for reality-show tryouts or man-on-the-street material."

The site is currently streaming about 70,000 sessions a week and, Post says, "We're going to redesign our Web site to give [streaming video] more visibility."
