Ads are coming to RSS

Sites are increasingly starting to look for ways to earn revenue off of RSS feeds, aside from advertising on pages clicked to. Sites that have incorporated advertising links within their syndication feeds so far include eWeek, CBS MarketWatch and Moreover Technologies, and now Feedster is joining in.

Within the next three weeks, Feedster will start incorporating contextual sponsored links from Kanoodle in its feeds. Thje ads will appear as every sixth headline in its feeds and be clearly labeled. Feedster also will sell its own sponsorships for some of the RSS feeds, while using the Kanoodle contextual pay-per-click ads for its nonsponsored search feeds, eWeek reports.

Users can pay a $10 annual fee to get ad-free feeds (10 percent of which will be donated to tech nonprofit TechSoup.org)
