Most Canadians don't get news online
Fifty-five percent of Canadians never check the news online, compared to 42 percent of Americans, according to the Report Card on Canadian Media from the University of British Columbia’s School of Journalism. Other findings include:
Another 12% of Canadians rarely go to the Internet, for a total of 67% of Canadians who rarely or never use the Internet for news
Groups who are most likely to use the Internet for news everyday are Canadians under 35 with a university education and incomes over $75,000
Francophones are considerably less likely to use the Internet for news—more than 75% never go online for news
The top Internet sites Canadians turn to for news are: msn.com, cbc.ca, cnn.com, yahoo.com, theglobeandmail.ca and canada.com
