10 X 10: 100 words and pictures that define the times

10x10 is cool new site offering a unique visual look at the top news stories. The site scans the international news feeds of Reuters, The New York Times and the BBC and performs a "weighted linguistic analysis on the text contained in their top news stories." Based on that, the most important 100 words are chosen, along with 100 corresponding images, for each day, month, and year. "In this way, a constantly evolving record of our world is formed, based on prominent world events, without any human input," the site says.

10x10 was designed and developed by Jonathan Harris of Number27, in conjunction with the FABRICA communication research center in Italy. Thanks to Steve Rubel for passing on the link.
