The only news source showing an increase in daily use since Gallup's 2002 poll on media usage is the Internet. In the latest Gallup Poll, every other source decreased, and local TV news, local newspapers and network newsmagazine shows reached new lows. The percentage of American getting their news on the Internet every day has increased in Gallup polls from 3% in 1995 to 7% in 1998, 8% in 1999, 15% in 2002 and now 20 % in 2004.
Nevertheless, use of the Internet for news is still far behind overall by use of traditional television and print news sources:
