Comments on news stories
Note how the St. Cloud Times lets readers post comments about each story, rather than just direct them to a generic message board. The site lists the number of comments on each story after the headline on the home page -- similar to blogs.
This is a great way to foster community discussion around stories.
The Santa Fe New Mexican is also allowing comments directly on stories. The New Mexican has a couple of other smart, blog-like features: a Most Recent Comments page, and Most Commented on Stories.
