Internet future predictions database
Elon University and the Pew Internet & American Life Project have built an impressive Imagining the Internet Predictions Database that examines the future of the Internet. The searchable database includes more than 4,200 statements made by 1,000 people between 1990 and 1995. You could waste a lot of time here.
Visitors to the site can also share their own visions for the future of the Internet and read what more than 500 others have already posted.
The site, at www.elon.edu/predictions, also includes the results of a survey of 1,300 leading technology experts and scholars about their a vision of the digital future. Among the results: Asked to rate the amount of change that is likely in a variety of institutions in the next decade, the internet experts predicted the most radical change in news and publishing organizations.
