Jacksonville.com's First Coast Photos

Jacksonville.com, the Web site of the Florida Times-Union and one of the Morris Digital Works sites, runs a community photo site called First Coast Photos that includes more than 80,000 community-related photos in its galleries. The site encourages participation from photographers, students, schools, sports leagues, community groups, fundraising entities and other interested parties.

Morris Digital Works internet strategist Steve Yelvington says in 2004 First Coast Photos produced about 12.9 percent of the total market pageviews for Jacksonville.com -- more than 21 million, far ahead of sections such as wire news, general classifieds and any of the 'verticals.'

A great example of the power of such galleries.
