Online media class blog
Class blogs are growing increasingly common. One worth checking out is run by Barry Friedman of the Lakeland, Fl., Ledger Online, who set it up for an online media class he teaches at Florida Southern College: hollingsworthrambles.blogspot.com
"This is my first time teaching, and I didn't have the time to put together an elaborate online syllabus, as I've seen for some similar courses," he tells CyberJournalist.net. "But I have found the blog format particularly useful for teaching. It allows me to amplify (and correct) thoughts I've shared in the classroom, point to more material and just pontificate when I feel like it.
"The blog also serves as a home base for me and the class since it provides links to each student's blog and to campus e-mail. The college provides a bulky and somewhat confusing "portal" for profs to share class information, but the blog has been quicker, easier and far more useful for me and the students."
