Citizen's media: Blount County Voice
The Daily Times in Tennessee launched a citizen's media effort last month that's very similar to the Bakersfield, Calif., Northwest Voice.
The Blount County Voice is a new interactive Web site and weekly community newspaper serving residents of Blount County, Tenn.
"Blount County Voice is all about local information, photographs and topics of interest, told from your perspective. Most of the information and pictures on the Blount County Voice Web site and weekly newspaper are submitted by readers, community organizations, churches and schools.
Our policy is to publish all contributions on our Web site and include as many as possible in the print edition. Our Web site is updated daily and includes even more articles, information and pictures."
The print edition of the Blount County Voice is a free newspaper that is being home-delivered to approximately 11,000 Blount County homes in Maryville-Alcoa ZIP codes every Wednesday. The first one was delivered last Wednesday.
