Free money: How to claim part of freelance writers' settlement
Anyone who's written a freelance article since 1977 should check out FreelanceRights.com, which details a proposed settlement in a class-action publishing lawsuit. The deal could divvy up as much as $18 million dollars among qualifying freelance writers.

1 comments about 'Free money: How to claim part of freelance writers' settlement'It should be clear there's no "free money" for freelance writers. There never was -- the settlement was supposed to be compensation for work used by publishers who never contracted for it with copyright holders. The publishers used the work/produce/labor of writers, which was not "free" -- that's theft. And then the courts don't care about the writers' property rights anyway. A fine mess, none of which shows publishers, online databases, the US courts or writers' organizations in positive light.
