How old media can survive
The Wall Street Journal asks a wide group of media experts for their suggestions on what old-media companies should do to survive.
Some of their ideas:
Tear down the facade of how news is made by posting full, unedited video of interviews online and showing video of the creation of a news program from inception to broadcast.
Broadcast beyond the TV to devices like the new Sony Playstation Portable, cell phones and PDAs.
Don't just post the same stories readers can see in print online. Run blogs and let readers add comments to stories.
Let readers customize their own newspaper, by offering opportunities to create specialized newspapers according to their areas of interest.
Create strategic alliances with outlets around the globe.
Here's the full run-down of ideas.
