Online media salaries compare well
A media salary survey from MediaBistro.com says that "online/new media" professionals make a median salary of $60,000 in the Northeast and West and $53,000 in the South and Midwest -- higher than most similar jobs in newspapers and broadcast media.
Note that this data is from an online poll and thus isn't very scientific. Here is a full rundown of the survey's methodology, which acknowledges, "The sample represented is not truly random and may be affected by variables including, but not limited to, disparities between mediabistro's user demographic and overall industry demographics, the predisposition of certain demographic subsets to respond to online polling and the period of time during which the poll was available."
Still, it's interesting to drill down into the results, which can be sorted by metropolitan area.
