Alertbox 10 years anniversary

In the past 10 years, usability expert Jakob Nielsen has written 300,000 words in usability essays. In that time, he says, online user interfaces have become considerably easier to use.

Still, he says his "top ten mistakes" articles continue to be popular because, "despite clear documentation, website designers continue to make these mistakes at an astounding rate. Sad. But at least the mistakes are not as common anymore. We really are making progress. Even so, I'll have plenty of fodder for hundreds of columns to come."

Here he takes a look back at which of his predictions and
recommendations have come true and which still need work.
