Knoxnews.com redesign
The Knoxville News-Sentinel's Knoxnews.com recently redesigned its site, making it cleaner with fewer navigation links. The centerpiece is a bold set of large rotating images with headlines on them, highlighting the top stories on the site.

4 comments about 'Knoxnews.com redesign'I hope they're snagging a spider-hole full of money for that giant hospital ad - very annoying. The headline font size is too small, barely visible and difficult to discern between lines of type. The site looks more like an advertising or PR firm page and much less like a newspaper. Flashy, but ineffective.

Hey, Will, if you're on a PC, google host files ad block -- it's an easy way to eliminate most ads from your computer.

However, on the topic of KnoxNews: yes, it's clean. But no, it's not news-like. A coworker saw it and said it reminded him of a pharmaceutical company's web site. But hey, it still beats the look-and-feel of the Greensboro paper's redesign. You would think Gboro could have afforded a professional web designer to tackle their site, but no, it looks like they hired the same guy that designed the one before.
Sorry for all the hate in this post, but really: When are newspapers going to get a clue they're a web business too?

-- This comment was split up because some words (though it wouldn't tell me what they were) triggered a "submission denied" error from the blog CMS. I had to go through and test each possible offending phrase. Sheesh.
