IHT.com redesign

The International Herald Tribune, long an online design leader with its innovative three columns per screen design, redesigned its site recently to make the site wider and include more headlines on the top screen, plus more photos and advertisements.

The site has kept popular features, such as the option to read articles in a three or one-column format, and the clippings tool, which allows readers to save articles for reading at a later date, remains on the site.

The site also recently launched a translation tool in partnership with Ultralingua that enables readers to translate individual words on every article on the site.

"It's a neat little tool, since it translates individual words instead of blocks of text -- this is much better for accuracy than sending an entire article through babelfish or similar software," IHT.com Editor Meredith Artley tells CyberJournalist.net. "We've had a lot of great reader feedback on this feature."
