New York Times to integrate print, online newsrooms

The New York Times has announced plans to integrate its print and online newsrooms into one. In an all-staff memo, Executive Editor Bill Keller and Senior Vice President for Digital Operations Martin Nisenholtz say, "By integrating the newsrooms we plan to diminish and eventually eliminate the difference between newspaper journalists and Web journalists -- to reorganize our structures and our minds to make Web journalism, in forms that are both familiar and yet-to-be-invented, as natural to us as writing and editing, and to do all of this without losing the essential qualities that make us The Times. Our readers are moving, and so are we."

Here's the full memo from The Times' bosses. And a good look at the plans from The Wall Street Journal.

DEMOCRACY and PLURALISM -2

God is common and absolute sustainer of the entire universe, not for the Semitics, nor for Muslims but for all.. So Pluralism with ADJUSTMENT and HARMONY is the best way for dialogue and harmonious development in human civilization. Democracy the west follow is not meant for the third world or majority of the world, because west does not and cannot recommend democracy in Economic, Social, Education, Health and in the standard of living. Then how will u define democracy sans the above factors.
If majority of the people deprived in this global village and human family, then what will be the meaning of democracy and globalization? We tire not speaking about HUMAN RIGHTS but follow the system and democracy in which there is no accommodation, room for human rights. Without equal opportunity democracy and SELECTIVE DEMOCRACY is just exploitation and manipulation of human family and global village. You deny RIGHTS for the majority of Human beings and invest in your dogs and cats, OR spend trillions on the destruction of human being, and still play jargons of HUMAN RIGHTS, is very ironic
You get the resources your self and the opportunities specially restricted for yourselves and the majority p global population starving, and die squirming for a drop of water, then HOW REAL democracy will flourish and harmonious development goal achieved.

I think the write has mixed up democracy globalization and human rights. These are three different phenomenons.
Democracy in simple words is:
• Guarantee of basic Human Rights to every individual person vis-à-vis the state and its authorities as well as vis-à-vis any social groups (especially religious institutions) and vis-à-vis other persons.
• Separation of Powers between the institutions of the state:
Government [Executive Power],
Parliament [Legislative Power] und
Courts of Law [Judicative Power]
• Freedom of opinion, speech, press and massmedia
• Religious liberty
• General and equal right to vote (one person, one vote)
• Good Governance (focus on public interest and absence of corruption)
I think the world leaders are trying their best to ensure democracy in each and every country, there are religious, social, and social restrictions in different regions and countries, which does not allow to ensure similar democracy every where. Democracy is all about economic, social, education health and human rights. If we are not convinced by the western democracy, then every nation should explain and implement the democracy of its own form of democracy. Why we are expecting from west to define and implement democracy for rest of the world. It is part of democracy either you want to spent on your pets or you some thing else. We can not ask other to sacrifice their private activities for the sac of democracy or globalization. There are people who share their own food with their pets..
On the other hand Globalization an ongoing process by which regional economies, societies and cultures have become integrated through a globe-spanning network of exchange. Globalization is usually recognized as being driven by a combination of economic, technological, sociocultural, political and biological factors. The term can also refer to the transnational dissemination of ideas, languages, etc.
Now it is up to the nations and culture what part of the globalization favors their interests. How can we benefit of the globalization is again the people and the systems of countries.
Very often it becomes very important to take action against inhuman behavior of so called humans. That is not destruction it is rather part of construction. Like we remove unwanted and unhealthy plants in our crops, otherwise the few diseased and unwanted plants can bring disaster in crop in the whole regions. Every farmer spends more then 10% for destroying unwanted and diseased plants to have healthy useful crop.
