Record video traffic on MSNBC.com

In the week since Hurricane Katrina hit, MSNBC.com has broken all previous records for video traffic, with nearly 50 million videos played. This is more than three times the number of videos that were played the week of Sept. 11, 2001, previously the largest video week ever on the site, according to a press release.

Viewers spend almost 30 minutes, on average, watching video on the site. Overall traffic to the site doubled, averaging nearly 300 million page views for the week and 9 million unique users per day, and traffic to slideshows soared to 165 million page views, according to MSNBC.
