HappyNews.com: Where the news is always positive

Austin Internet entrepeneur Byron Reese has an answer for news readers who are always complaining about how negative the media is: HappyNews.com, a three-month old Web site that focuses on positive news.

The site has a staff of 10 full- and part-time employees who scour news wires and press releases for positive news every day, according to The Washington Post. They also edit contributions from about 100 "citizen journalists" around the world who offer their own upbeat stories.

The site's credo reads: "We believe virtue, goodwill and heroism are hot news. That's why we bring you up-to-the-minute news, geared to lift spirits and inspire lives."

The site's audience is still small, but growing: HappyNews.com got 70,000 unique visitors in its first full month of operation in August.
