CNet News.com redesigns

CNet News.com has launched a redesign. It's calling it a "beta," but the main home page redirects to http://beta.news.com.com. This is not just a facelift redesign. It includes all sorts of new features. Mouse over the top headlines and the lead image on the home page changes. Click in the daily spotlight box and new features cycle through. Lower on the home page, the most commented on stories are highlighted. You can also personalize the home page by adding headlines that match keywords. Even the story pages include some interesting innovations. Each story includes a series of tools to help you find related stories, including two particularly interesting ones, The Big Picture and What's Hot.

The Big Picture is a visual map of interconnected stories showing you how they relate and letting you navigate to related stories. See this example .

What's Hot is a visual snapshot of which stories are most important on CNET News.com at any moment. Bigger blocks indicate stories are hotter. Brighter colors indicate they are newer. What's Hot is updated every time a story is published, or at least once an hour.
