Newsday.com's Fire Alarm special report
Newsday.com's Jonathan McCarthy sends in Newsday's excellent Fire Alarm series, an 8-part investigation into Long Island fire departments. For this project Newsday.com used a flash database to display 5 years worth of data on everything from cost per fire to response time. The site also used Google Earth to map all of the 179 fire districts. There are some good videos and interactive features as well.
