TCPalm.com redesigns

TCPalm.com -- the Web site for he Stuart News, Port St. Lucie News, the Tribune in Fort Pierce and the Press Journal in Indian River County in Florida -- has redesigned its site. Rather than having seperate parts of the site for each newspaper, now TCPalm is organized around topics and geographical areas. The new design has borrowed some style points from the KnoxNews.com redesign.

"We know this is a big change," said Nathan Ashby-Kuhlman. "We thought about it a lot. We did it to simplify things.... There were separate pieces of the site for each newspaper, even though the newspapers share much of their business, sports, entertainment, opinion and lifestyle coverage. This made the site very complicated. One measure of how much simpler the site is now that it's organized around topics and geographic areas is this: Yesterday we had over 300 sections on the site. Now we have about 75. We think the increased simplicity will benefit everyone."
