BBC's audience turns to web first
Here's an interesting bit of data that shows how online is emerging as a key resource for UK opinion leaders.
The BBC has done an ongoing survey asking opinion leaders about the news and which BBC service they would turn to for information about a major national or international event.
The BBC News website is now their number 1 choice by a wide margin. Thirty-two percent cited it first, with the next specified service News 24, BBC's rolling TV news channel, at 15 percent. The website's 32 percent rating is up from 8 percent in October 2004.
"That's an extraordinary rise and a great tribute to the work of people across every department," said Pete Clifton, Editor-in-Chief of News Interactive.
