Under protest, BBC delays putting ads online
The BBC has delayed a decision on whether to add ads to its international news website, after more than 150 staff signed a letter protesting the plan, The Guardian reports.
The site launch had been planned for next spring, initially in the US.
At the meeting yesterday, the journalism board asked BBC Worldwide to undertake more work on the implications of the change before it made a decision. It was hoped a recommendation would be decided upon yesterday so it could be ratified by the BBC's executive committee later this month and then by the governors when they meet early next month. However, it is now thought a decision will not be made until later in the year.
