NYTimes.com Editor named IHT Deputy ME
NYTimes.com Editor in Chief Len Apcar has been appointed the new deputy managing editor of the International Herald Tribune for Asia.
In his new role, Apcar will oversee Asia coverage for both the International Herald Tribune and The New York Times. Apcar's mandate is to enhance the reports of both The New York Times and the IHT, in print and
online, by giving readers the full global reach of international journalism from both news staffs.
Bill Keller, executive editor of The New York Times, said, “Len embodies the reality that The New York Times is really at heart one great news organization with several faces -- The Times, the IHT, our Web sites. From his experiences on the Foreign Desk, Bizday and at NYTimes.com, he has the confidence of journalists across the company, and a keen sense of how their work can best be choreographed for a global audience.”
Apcar has been editor in chief of NYTimes.com since June 2002. Under his leadership, the site won
numerous awards for general excellence, breaking news, multimedia, enterprise, commentary and photography. He serves on the board of directors for the Online News Association and the National Press Foundation, as well as the advisory board of the American Press Institute's Media Center.
